  • A wide brimmed hat will help to protect you from the heat of the tropical sun
  • Do not stray off the path to follow animals
  • Pack a few easy-to-eat snacks to keep your energy levels up
  • Be as quiet as possible to avoid scaring any wildlife
  • Wear thin, loose clothing (preferably cotton)
  • Always let someone know about your plans and destination
  • Cover arms and legs with long-sleeved shirts and long trousers
  • Take plenty of water
  • Be prepared for sudden rain showers by carrying a poncho that wraps over your body and your rucksack to keep everything dry
  • Do not eat jungle fruits
  • Make sure that you are fit enough to complete the trek
  • Chose sturdy footwear with proper ankle support and good traction
  • Make sure that you have enough time to complete all of the route before it becomes dark
  • Wear long socks
  • Do not drink from rivers or streams
