1. The
Paracas Peninsula -
from which we board a launch
to visit the Ballestas Islands. Have a look at the pelicans
and look at these sea
lions.
2. Huacichana
- this was our first stop over and is set around a tiny
lagoon
with palm trees and sand dunes. Look at these photographs
and imagine how hard it must be live here.
3. Nazca
- seeing these
lines
and drawings from a plane was fantastic.
Why they are here and how they were made is yet another mystery!
4.
Arequipa This is the second largest city in Peru and is
over 2000 metres high. In this photograph
you will see a group of volcanic mountains
just above the city. Can you spot the damaged building as a
result of the earthquake?

5.Puno
- as we flew over the Andes to Juliaca we arrived at the
ruins
of Sillustani famous for it's stone burial towers of the Colla
tribe. The local people have developed larger lungs to withstand
the thinner air!
6. Lake
Titicaca and the Uros Indians - This is the highest lake
in the world and is 3850 metres high. Here we took a boat ride
to the floating reed beds of the Uros Indians.
This is where they use a type of reed to make their boats and
houses.
7. Cusco
This was the centre of Inca Life and you can see from the foundations
of modern buildings how skilled Inca stonemasons were!
