I knew nothing about Peru but now I know it is 5 times bigger than the UK, called the 'Land of the Incas', has some of the driest deserts on earth and has the greatest rainforest on the planet!
First stop is Lima the capital of Peru. we left this city at 5 am and travel by minibus along the Pan American Highway which runs south across the coastal desert. Parts of the highway were blocked with debris from the recent earthquake.
