Pearl River Guangzhou
Shamian Island

We are now on the last part of our journey through China as we go south to Guangzhou. The weather has got warmer and the landscape has changed from where we were.

They use cattle to plough the land here and the wheat is cut by hand with a scythe.

The train stops sometimes to allow passengers to buy food from the stalls. You can buy noodles with meat, handmade breadcakes and some sweets. On the subject of food, when we visited the local market we noticed that a lot of animals in cages such as tortoises, cats, rabbits and dogs were being sold to be eaten. This was very upsetting for a little bear so I made sure I hid in Serena's bag!
