We travelled from Worcester to London by car to catch the plane to China. I was feeling very nervous because I didn't know what to expect and I had to say goodbye to all my relatives and friends. The flight was delayed, but we were soon on our way on a 10 hour flight to Beijing. When we arrived we had to set our watches forward 8 hours so while it was 2.30 am in England it was 10.30 am in China. This was confusing at first but we soon got used to it.
The journey to the hotel was fascinating, looking at all the road signs written in bright colours in Chinese - nothing was written in English! The weather was sunny but cold, the winds were blowing down from Siberia and the temperature was minus 6 degrees.
