I
had a lovely time seeing Barrington.
One evening, I showed him my wonderful photos of Uluru (Ayers Rock).
Barrington said how beautiful it looked but that he wouldn't want
to climb it as he'd read a leaflet written by local people who didn't
like the idea of people going onto Uluru. |
If
you read the leaflet yourself, you can see what he meant. What would
you feel, however, if you'd travelled many hundreds of miles (or even
thousands of miles all the way from the UK) like I had, and really wanted
to climb Uluru but the local people told you not to?
We bears had a
long discussion.
You probably know that in a discussion you present one point of view
and then listen to another point of view before finally making up your
mind and coming to a conclusion. We wonder what you think.
Before you decide,
you will need to think about both points of view. Use the leaflet written
by the Anangu people to put together one point of view, and think about
why I wanted to climb Uluru and read my diary to find out how much I
enjoyed the trip so that you can write the alternative point of view.
Try to imagine how excited I would have been. Lastly, write a final
paragraph saying what your own opinion is.

There is a writing frame to help
you.
