Try the activity below....
1. See if you can find some books in the library on Aboriginal paintings. Browse through and have your sketchbook handy to draw any pattern or motif that you like.
2. Using squared paper, draw one of your motifs. It need not be very big, as the whole design is only A4 size - approximately 21cm x 30cm.
3. Using your design you could make a printing block out of a potato, or simply use a stick, nail with a head on it, or a piece of card.
4. When you are ready to print, choose a background colour which is going to make the colours stand out - black, grey, white. You could fold the paper into equal sections as a guide to where to print. Good luck with your experiments.
